Life Thru A Lens 2
Mood:  chillin'
Now Playing: Mozart

Greetings troops, this is your General typing. Hope all is well where you are today. What a whirlwind last 2 weekends it has been for the band and I! Did 2 gigs both nights of Friday/Saturday and boy did it feel good. The show we did this past Friday at Patrick's Pub in Providence, RI went well. One patron couldn't help himself and jumped on stage to sing some backup. That's what's it's all about right?  Let the music capture the people, any way possible! One thing that got me on a low was my bloody foot switch to distort my guitar was on the blink (no pun intended!), so had to play the distored parts clean. Oh well, that's the nature of playing live I reckon. We certainly got a lot of compliments after the concert for our performance. Felt damn good, I must confess! The band was on fire, I'll admit.

My solo acoustic debut last night at a new venue called Limey's Pub (Norwood, MA) went over well too. Nice little venue that place. Props goes to my friend Kristina for checking out the gig, as she has been wanting to check me out for quite some time. Glad she enjoyed my show. I had the crowd at the palm of my hand and management was very nice and really was blown away by my show. I'd say they want me back soon!  Phew, tired just typing about these past performances. In with that "FS brigade", I bid you adieu....I do.

Life Thru A Lens
Mood:  a-ok

Greeting troops. Hope all is well where ever you may be residing. Things here have been quite busy for me and the boys, as this month of April will be seeing us quite busy. First off, I have a solo acoustic show at my monthly residency at Medway Cafe (Medway, MA), followed the next day with the whole band raisin' the roof at the Kinsale Pub in downtown Boston.  Then throughout the month, the gigs are peppered with another band gig and 2 other solo acoustic shows by moi. Phew! Just tired of typing about it! LOL  Bryan is still kind enough to be manning the drums. He is doing a great job (and one hell of a funny guy. Keeps me laffing me arse off, which keeps me younger than I am).

FS would like to wish everyone of you a Happy Easter/Happy Passover (whichever holiday you celebrate). We hope it's filled with fun and blessings (and by the way, don't eat too much Easter candy folks, not good for ya).  If of course you've been a good girl/boy this Easter, I might post a little surprise up on the band's official Facebook page soon. Right, heading off now, so until next time "FS brigade".........

Your commander n chief,

Frankie

"(Rockin') Train Keeps A'Rollin'!
Mood:  energetic

A howdy do "FS brigade". Hope all is well wherever you may reside in this vast planet we call Earth. As you know, this month has been extremely busy for us (band, as well as I) and it feels damn good! The last 3 concerts have been very successful (the band's show at the Asgard; and the last 2 solo acoustic gigs I did this past weekend). We'll be doing it all over again this coming Friday at a venue we haven't played in quite some time called Patrick's Pub in the state of Rhode Island. The band is in the midst of rehearsals and can't wait. We will be including 2 new songs for this show: Blur's "Song 2" and Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?". Look out for new songs coming soon at other venues. Speaking (errr typing) about the Asgard, props goes to our friend Bryan Poor for manning the drums, as Kambo couldn't make it that show. Good job man. My time is limited as I just returned from being out and need a little chill time in front of the telly. Until next time "FS brigade"......

Over and Out!

Happy 2012 FS brigade!
Now Playing: Kings of Leon

Happy New Year everyone! I do hope all of you had a great holiday season and that Santa brought all the gifts you wanted (providing you were good little girls and boys of course!). My Christmas was quite nice (hey, I got a new Beatles tshirt-so I must have behaved in 2011. lol). New Years was a different story, as I was under the weather and ended up going to bed early and missing the 3 Stooges marathon they have here in Boston every NYE. I hope this isn't a sign of me getting older (lol).

This past year brought changes for the band, such as Bruce sadly leaving the band after being with us for 6 years and Joe joining as our new bassist, as well as me doing a number of solo acoustic shows all around the area. I hope 2012 will bring more surprises for us to share with you.

My band and I hope to deliver kick ass shows in the coming year. We have booked some great venues as of late (Kinsale and the Asgard pubs). Matter of fact, we have one at the Asgard this coming Saturday and we are quite looking forward to it. Freudian Slip hopes to see your smiling faces/dancing legs there for support. We also plan on working on some new songs to perform for you, but I dare not tell you as this might spoil the fun (hint: if you belong to our FB official page, you will find some songs listed). Right. Time to get off this mechanical box called a computer and get back to what I love best: music.  Thanks again for being there for us in 2011 and looking forward to another rockin' year! This is your captain speaking...over and out!

"Success has it's priviledges"
Mood:  chillin'

As I sit here next to my grandmother (she's playing a mean game of Solataire at the moment), I ponder to think how great my band's concert at the Asgard (Cambridge, MA) went this past Saturday.  When I tell you I had everyone in the palm of my sweaty little hand, I am telling you. It was a HUGE success from the first notes of "Vertigo" (U2) in the first set, to the last note ringing from our version of "Sweet Child O'Mine" (by Guns and Roses) at the end of our conceret. I'm still on a high from thinking back (that's what music does to me in general for the record). I have just learned that the video that was shot of us at the show came out great, so I hope to share it with you when I get my hands on it (as many of our fans have wanted to see a vid of us in action). Many thanks goes to my friend Joe Hart, who covered bass until Bruce returns to the group next month. We have secured 3 more gigs there at the Asgard for 2012, so check it out on our GIGS page and make sure you write it down. We want to see your faces.

I've been doing solo acoustic shows a couple of times a month also, so I've been keeping busy. I've gotten some ideas for songs recently and hope to put them into verses/chords soon.  Remember, if you ever have any requests for us to do, don't be shy! Let us know by dropping us an email. Until next time, "FS brigade"..........

"I must say, it felt damn good playing with the rest of my band the other day at the 4th of July party. Even though it's been well over 6 months since we last rocked it on stage, it sure hasn't felt that long playing with the lads. We just slipped back into our "groove" like nothing happened. I'm so happy everyone at the party enjoyed our sets. A big thank you goes out to my Uncle Joe and Aunt Dianne for letting us perform. God smiled upon us, as the weather was good (no rain clouds in site). Another thank you goes to my friend Joe Hart, who did bass duties with my band this past Monday. He did a good job. Joe will be on bass until Bruce returns to the fold in October. I started hunting for new venues for us to perform at. If anyone (who lives in the Boston area) know of any good places for us to try, don't hesitate to email us. Until next time, "FS" fans......."

We're back!!
Mood:  happy
Now Playing: Oasis- "Time Flies 1994-2009" best of box set

Read all about it! The previous line-up of "Freudian Slip" is back!! That's right and ready to really rock yer socks off peeps! As you know, Bruce, Jay and Paul left at different times a few months ago and since then I've been trying to establish new bandmates for my band (I did have a lead guitarist and drummer, but was auditioning bassists). In any event, I was hanging out with Paul last weekend and we got to talking about how we miss being in a band together with Jay and Bruce. I gave both of them a call, sorted a few things out and here we are. Considering that the band broke up due to certain strains of being in a band for a long time (and everyone being busy-Jay with his new pizza shop for example). That took it's toll. I think a few months off has recharged our batteries and we also missed hanging out/performing together as a band. We all agree that this line up of the four of us is solid. They really are my brothers in music. Bruce will be rejoining us in October, since he is busy with work and other projects. In the meantime, I'll be having my friend Joe Hart do session bass for us. Knowing we are back and stronger than ever, I'm one happy lad!  Until next time "FS" band....

Phoenix rising from the flames

I am sad to inform you that some of the bandmates of "Freudian Slip" left the group recently. This is quite sad to me as I deemed this the best lineup my band has had in it's 11 year existence. I have learned a lot from Jay and Bruce and will treasure their advice as long as I'm a musician. We had a lot of great times together as a band, and during gigs.

I must now move forward in aquiring new bandmates. This may take some time, but rest assured, Freudian Slip will rise again soon. If anyone knows of profesionnal musicians (who can sing backup) around the Boston, MA area seeking to join an established cover/original band, please email me. I shall keep you posted every so often about what's going on (as well as any solo acoustic shows that I'll be doing soon). Thanks for your continuing support "FS" brigade!

"Time Flies"
Mood:  suave
Now Playing: Paramore
Hola "FS" brigade! Hope all is well. Can you believe it's been almost 11 years since I put Freudian Slip together? How time flies indeed. Our adventures keep getting better and better w/each passing year. Here's to another 11 years, "FS" style! Our most recent gig at Effin's Last Resort this past Saturday was a HUGE success! We had everyone dancing throught the whole concert (including hearing that the staff thought we were awesome). Makes us feel like we did our job right. Keep your fingers crossed that we can get another booking there real soon. We added some new songs to our repertiore a this gig, like "Sugar We're Going Down" (Fall Out Boy) and "Walk this Way" (Aerosmith). We also put in some songs we haven't done in quite some time, like "She Hates Me" (Puddle of Mudd) and "Basketcase" (Green Day). For those of you who are wondering about originals, we are in the process of writing and recording some w/ Jay's new portable 8 track digital studio. I hope to have some songs up soon. Until next time, "FS" fans......
